The Park has five primary sources of funding: The Park Board contracts for operations of the aquatic and fitness facility generating rental income, the Arts & Crafts and Winter Brews Festivals, project-specific grants, and generous donations from community members and businesses. The Park also benefits from in-kind donations in the form of labor and materials, mostly related to Park capital improvements, e.g., radio building renovation, and professional services like tree or electrical work. Funds are used for maintenance, repairs and improvements costing $40,000 — $50,000 annually.
Additionally, the Park’s restrictive covenant agreement with Albemarle County occasionally helps to fund Park improvements through the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). These improvements are primarily infrastructure type projects including most recently a significant parking lot expansion and resurfacing in 2016 and ongoing seasonal maintenance including mowing and snow removal and general athletic field maintenance. As a community-owned and operated park, Crozet Park could not exist without the help of Albemarle County Parks and Recreation and their amazing staff.
